We are pleased to report that Governor Lamont announced that fitness centers, social clubs and pools will reopen on Wednesday, June 17th. All areas of the IC will practice social distancing and follow CDC, state and local guidelines. Due to these new restrictions, we have had to make changes to our procedures and operating flow in order to ensure the safety of our staff and members. We have instituted the following rules and practices, which we would like to share with you so you will know what to expect upon returning to the club. We are looking at this “soft opening” as a learning experience for both the staff and our members.
Prior to returning to the IC, please read the reopening protocols below and sign the Member Risk Assumption and Waiver of Liability at the bottom of this page.
Please note that the safety of our staff and members is our utmost concern. All of our programs have been adjusted to adhere to the guidelines and safety protocols provided by state and local authorities as well as the CDC and Department of Health. We will continue to keep you informed if we receive any additional information that could affect your usage and enjoyment of the IC.
If you are sick, please stay home. Please do not come to the IC if you are experiencing a fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, have the chills, or have been exposed to someone who has COVID-19 (in this case, please self-quarantine for a minimum of 14 days as recommended by the CDC.) The CDC also recommends that anyone who is 65 years or older or has an underlying health condition, remain home during the Phase Two Reopening.
The IC reserves the right to modify any of the new operating procedures and safety guidelines listed below at their discretion and in accordance with state, CDC and local health authorities. These policies and procedures will evolve over time, particularly as the state allows us to ease some of the current restrictions. We ask for your understanding and patience during this time.
We will have reduced hours of operation when we reopen. Our new hours of operation will be:
Monday – Friday
7:00am – 8:00pm
Weekends & Holidays
8:00am – 8:00pm
The regular indoor check-in station will be used for entrance to the fitness center/gymnasium and the indoor pool only. You will be unable to access the outdoor pool through the indoor check-in desk.
There are two outdoor check-in stations which will allow access to the outdoor pools. One check-in station is located in the parking lot behind the gym and the other is next to the Education Station parking lot. Signs will be posted to direct you to the appropriate entrance /gate to the pool you reserved. Your regular IC identification tags are required to enter the club at all times.
If you need to inquire about your membership or pay your bill, please enter and exit through the front doors of the main building and follow all signs and protocols.
Due to the limitations on capacity and social distancing guidelines, guests will not be allowed until further notice.
We have removed the lobby furniture and outdoor benches in all of the general areas of the club in order to encourage social distancing.
It is mandatory for members to wear face masks that completely cover the mouth and nose when entering and exiting the main facility. However, members will not need to wear masks when using the fitness equipment, in the swimming pools, around the pool deck, at the snack bar and at the picnic area as long as they are practicing social distancing.
Regularly scheduled sanitization and cleaning will take place daily prior to the opening, throughout the course of the day and after the facility closes in the evening. During the day, our cleaning staff will concentrate on high traffic areas such as door handles, stair railings, gates and restrooms. The IC pools, fitness center, gymnasium and snack bar will close from 2:30pm-3:30pm daily for additional cleaning and sanitization. All members will be asked to leave the club premises during this cleaning period. The tennis and platform tennis courts will remain open.
All lockers and showers will remain closed during this initial reopening phase, so please plan accordingly. The restrooms will be open both inside the main facility, and at the snack bar. Limitations for each restroom will be posted outside and inside each of the restrooms. Keys to the family room/handicap room will be held at the indoor check-in station and must be returned immediately after use. The check-in attendant will disinfect the keys ad handles after each use.
In order to adhere to social distancing protocols, we will need to limit the number of people allowed in each of the pools. In order to be fair and equitable to all of our members, we have created a reservation system that will be available on the IC website, https://italiancenter.org. A reservation is required for each family member that will be coming to use the facility since we have a limited number of spaces per time slot. Please be sure that each family member is listed by name in your member portal.
If your membership is not current or active, you will not be able to make an online reservation.
As a reminder, guests will not be permitted until further notice.
The pools will be open for two 4.5 hour shifts per day. We have allocated 60 minutes in between each shift for sanitizing and disinfecting. In the interest of safety, members will have to select one pool per shift (kiddie, middle, large pool or picnic pool) and will not be able change pools while at the IC. In order to accommodate as many members as possible, members may not make more than one reservation per day. Reservations can be made 3 days in advance and will closed 90 minutes prior to the scheduled shift. In the event that a member makes more than one reservation in a given day, the second reservation will be cancelled.
The operating hours for the outdoor pools are as follows:
10:00am-2:30pm: Shift 1
2:30pm-3:30pm: Closed for Cleaning
3:30pm-8:00pm: Shift 2
Social distancing guidelines must be practiced at the pool entrance, flume, diving boards, between lounge chairs and at the snack bar order and pick up windows. Members living in the same household may sit in close proximity to each other and may move chairs closer together if so desired.
Each of the pools will only have one access point/gate. A staff person will be stationed at each access point and will check your name against the reservation list in order for you and any family members to access that particular pool. If your name is not on the reservation list, you will be denied access until such time that your reservation can be confirmed.
All other outdoor pool rules remain in effect and will be posted throughout the pool areas. Please understand that these rules are in place for the safety and enjoyment of all members.
As a reminder, diapered and children who are not fully toilet trained are only allowed in the kiddie and middle pools. These children must use IC approved rubber or nylon lined swim diapers. Huggies swim diapers are not permitted. Swim diapers can be purchased in the lifeguard shed or at the indoor check-station.
Early morning swim will be held outside at the large pool on the following days and times. No reservations are necessary.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday
The snack bar will have an outside order window and a separate order pick up window. There will be no food or drink service from inside the snack bar. All tables are six feet apart. Tables will be cleaned and sanitized between each use. As always, food and drink will not be allowed on the pool decks.
The picnic pool, located in the back of the IC picnic grounds, will be an adult only pool this summer as long as a picnic is not scheduled for that day. The same social distancing guidelines and protocols apply to this pool. A staff person will be stationed at this pool and will monitor access. The restrooms will be open and will be cleaned and sanitized throughout the day, in addition to the 2:30pm-3:30pm cleaning period.
The indoor pool will be used for lap swimming only during this initial phase of the reopening. There are six lanes, so only six members will be able to swim at a time. Members will need to reserve a time online. Reservations can be made in 30 minutes increments with a maximum of 60 minutes at a time. Members will be able to reserve an indoor lap lane while they are at one of the outdoor pools if there is availability.
The indoor pool will open at 7:00am and close at 8:00pm when we initially open, the same hours as the fitness center and the gymnasium.
You can make online pool reservations by using your Mobile APP or LOGIN online into your account. Reservations can only be made 3 days in advance and will close 90 minutes before the scheduled shift.

- Follow steps 1-5 from above.
- On the left hand side of the page find Reserve a Court or Indoor Pool Lane, click on it.
- Choose SWIM in the drop down under “What Service?”.
- Choose a Lane in the drop down under “Where?”.
- Choose the date you would like to reserve and for what period of time (30 or 60 min) under “When?”.
- Click Search.
- Pick a time.
- Click CONFIRM.
- Click OK. On the top of the page, you will be able to see your reservations and will have the ability to edit or cancel it.
Members will be able to reserve an Indoor Pool Lane for Lap Swimming prior to their visit to the IC. They may also reserve an Indoor Pool Lane, if one is available, during one of the outdoor pool shifts.
Click on the “HOME” tab in the left hand side of the page. You can see all your reservations on the right hand side of the page under “MY EVENTS”. Locate the Unregister button to the right of the time of your reservation. Click unregister.
To unregister other members of your family, on the home page over your picture, locate your name and click on it. Select the member you wish to unregister. Under your reservations on the right hand side of the page under “MY EVENTS”. Locate the Unregister button to the right of the time of your reservation. Click unregister.
The equipment in the fitness center has been reconfigured and several machines will be closed for use in order to adhere to the 12 foot social distancing protocols for fitness related activities. In addition, a significant number of the cardio machines, weight benches and smaller dumbbell racks have been moved into the gymnasium to help with social distancing measures. To help with control measures, please do not move any equipment from the zone in which it is located. In addition, a restricted access zone has been set up in both the lower and upper fitness center. Usage within each of these designated zones will be restricted to one person at a time.
Members who utilize any of the fitness equipment will be asked to thoroughly clean each piece of equipment immediately after use (no circuit training) with wipes, which will be readily available.
The gymnasium will be reserved for controlled fitness activities until further notice and will remain closed for all other purposes. At this time, reservations are NOT required for the fitness center. Children between the ages of 14 and 16 must be accompanied by a parent. Anyone under the age of 14 is not permitted.
All group fitness classes will remain virtual for the time being. We hope to add several outside fitness classes in the future.
Members who took advantage of our group fitness equipment loan program may continue to hold on to the borrowed equipment until further notice.
The fitness center and gymnasium will be closed from 2:30pm to 3:30pm daily for thorough cleaning and disinfecting of the fitness equipment and the gymnasium. All members must leave the club during this timeframe.
Beginning Wednesday, June 17, the racquet courts will be open 8:00am - 8:00pm Monday - Friday and 8:00am-7:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The restrooms in the pro shop are open. Only one person at a time is allowed into the restrooms. A member of the tennis staff is available to unlock the door for members who need to use the restroom.
Please remember that guests are not allowed on the tennis or platform tennis courts until further notice. This is for the safety of all fellow members. We appreciate your support.
The member playground will be closed during the initial “soft” reopening. In addition, the Education Station playgrounds will be closed to members due to OEC regulations.
Members may use the ping pong tables, bean bag toss and chess/checker table if they bring their own paddles, balls, bean bags and other necessary equipment. Member may only play with other family members at this time.
A new miniature golf course is schedule to be installed on Thursday, June 18. An attendant will disinfect the putter and golf balls between each use. Social distancing guidelines must be practiced while playing miniature golf.

If you have accessed your online account before and already have a valid username & password, simply enter it in the appropriate fields and click LOGIN.
If you know your username, but forgot the password, please click “Forgot your password?”
If you have never accessed your account before or are not sure what your username and password are, you can retrieve this information by clicking ACCESS MY ACCOUNT at the bottom of the page on the left hand side.
- Enter your information and click SEARCH. Please make sure that you enter the e-mail address associated with your IC membership. (If you changed your e-mail address, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.)
- You will receive an e-mail shortly with a link that will help you access your account. (If you do not receive the e-mail within 15 minutes, check your junk or spam folders.)
- Click on the link you received in the e-mail.
- Please verify and complete your information in the form that will appear when you click the link in your e-mail.
- If done correctly, the boxes will turn green and a “Password meets requirement” note will appear
- If this does not occur, look at the “Password Must” box to the right and correct the items marked in red.
- Read the “Liability Release” agreement and check the box “I agree with the above terms” at the bottom of the page.
- Click “Save Account” at the bottom of the page.
This will bring you to your “ACTIVE” member account where you should see your photo (if not, please have your photo taken at the check-in desk on your next visit to the IC.) You will now be able to access your personal information and the reservation system.
Please note that you must be an ACTIVE member of the IC in order to access your online account. If your annual dues are unpaid, you will not be able to use our online reservation system.
