The IC offers a wide range of fitness classes and personal training programs designed for all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re looking for high-intensity workouts, body sculpting, yoga, or nutritional coaching, our certified instructors and trainers can help you achieve your goals in a welcoming environment.

Enjoy a variety of classes throughout the week, all levels welcome! Instructors can modify routines to fit your ability.

Body Sculpting / Functional Strength / Total Fit – Low-impact strength, toning, and functional conditioning.

HIIT / Boot Camp / Boxing Beatdown / Total TRX / Cardio Crunch – High-intensity interval training and cardio-strength workouts.

Zumba & Dance – Fun, cardio-focused dance workouts including Dance to the Core.

Yoga & Pilates – Improve flexibility, balance, and core strength. (Open Level Yoga, Vinyasa Flow Yoga, Pilates Mat, Flex, Stretch & Recovery)

Aqua Classes – Low-impact water workouts, including Aqua Tabata, Water Aerobics, Aqua Barre, Aqua Jogging, Aqua Aerobics, Combination Aqua Class.

Tai Chi / Walk for Fitness Club – Gentle, low-impact activities focusing on balance, mindfulness, and cardiovascular health.

Brian Wright
Sports Director

Hailing from the vibrant state of Maryland, Brian is a proud alumnus of Frostburg State University, where he not only earned his Bachelor of Science degree but also ignited his fervor for physical fitness, emerging as a standout athlete during his college years.

Since stepping into the health and fitness arena in 1998, Brian has amassed a wealth of experience across all dimensions of fitness training and coaching. His expertise shines in areas such as strength training for weight management, youth fitness programs, injury prevention strategies, and dynamic group exercise sessions.

Currently certified as a personal trainer by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Brian remains passionately committed to expanding his knowledge and expertise in the ever-evolving world of exercise science.

Jessica Munier
Group Fitness Instructor, Health Coach and Personal Trainer

Jessica Munier is an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Health Coach, and Zumba Instructor. Since 2013, Jessica has helped members transform both physically and mentally. Her mission is to prove fitness can be fun and the journey to a healthier life is achievable with a customized approach.

George Kailas
Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Instructor

George’s journey began in Stamford, where he spent his formative years immersed in the world of sports. From a young age, he showcased his athletic prowess on the basketball court, playing not only during high school but also participating in various intramural leagues.

His passion for fitness led him to obtain a Personal Training certification from the esteemed American College of Sports Medicine. At the IC, George channels his enthusiasm into teaching boxing classes for both adults and youths, including the dynamic Boxing Beatdown sessions. He wears multiple hats as a youth athletic trainer and a sports-specific trainer, while also serving as a personal trainer at Chelsea Piers.

To top it off, he shares his expertise as the assistant coach for the Junior Varsity Volleyball team at Westhill High School. With a focus on cardio boxing, conditioning, youth fitness, and resistance training, George is dedicated to empowering others through movement and exercise. His commitment to fostering a love for fitness in the next generation is truly inspiring!

Lynn Rule
Group Fitness Instructor

Lynn grew up in Rhode Island and was a Communications major at Rhode Island College before she moved to New York to work on Wall Street. After a career in Investment Banking, she and her family moved to Stamford and they became members of the IC where she was a student in group fitness classes.

Lynn always had a passion for fitness and transferred that to a career change in 2021 when she became a certified Zumba instructor.

In 2022, she became a certified Group Fitness Instructor through AFAA (Athletics and Fitness Association of America) and has subsequently added specialties in both Women’s Fitness and Small Group Personal Training. “It’s never too late to work on your personal fitness” is something she often repeats. Lynn stresses the importance of strength training especially in women over 40 and encourages everyone to find the workout they enjoy.

Lauren Fein
Group Fitness Instructor

Lauren was active in high school playing varsity softball and tennis, and remained invested in fitness through local gyms in New York and Connecticut. As a second career, she entered the fitness industry to support others through exercise by getting certified as a group fitness and personal training instructor.

Jason Rivera
Group Fitness Instructor

Jason Rivera is a highly accomplished former athlete and coach, renowned for his achievements in the world of boxing. He earned the title of NYC Golden Glove Champion in 2002, showcasing his skill and dedication to the sport. As a certified amateur boxing coach, Jason has transformed countless aspiring boxers by imparting his extensive knowledge and experience.

His qualifications extend beyond boxing; he is also a certified personal trainer through the National Council on Strength & Fitness (NCSF).

Jason holds specialized certifications in kettlebell training, explosive lifting, and sports nutrition, which allow him to provide a comprehensive approach to fitness. His expertise enables him to create tailored workout programs that meet the diverse needs of his clients.

In addition to working with athletes, Jason serves as a middle school fitness coach, promoting healthy habits and physical activity among younger generations. He is also dedicated to senior fitness, having conducted fall prevention presentations for senior communities, ensuring they stay active and safe. With a passion for fitness and a commitment to helping others, Jason Rivera continues to make a positive impact in the lives of many.

Jon Pramberger
Orcas Swim Coach & Personal Trainer

Jon is keenly passionate about swimming, physical fitness, sports performance, strength training, rest and recovery, nutrition, and flexibility training. He is a certified USA Swimming Coach, and holds his Personal Trainer certification through NASM. He feels strongly that the only way to properly coach is to make sure his athletes and clients understand the science or theory behind the concepts being taught.

Allie Benzaken
Yoga Instructor

Allison Benzaken came to yoga as a continuation of her exploration into eastern arts and philosophy. Training in the martial arts for over sixteen years and earning two black belts from The Dojo, Stamford, her desire to delve deeper in pranayama and begin an asana practice brought her to the mat.

She feels most fortunate to have found the gift of yoga and wants to share the joy and mindfulness yoga has brought to her with others. Allison has completed 500 hours of Yoga Alliance certified teacher training through Be Shri Yoga/Dew Yoga as well as being certified in Yin Yoga through Kaia Yoga.

Allison’s teaching style combines her love of yoga with her martial arts and t’ai chi training, making each class fun and unique. She believes it is never too late to try something new and invites you to step out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself by just being present.

Ken Dolan
Tai Chi Instructor

Ken Dolan is a lifelong resident of Stamford. He teaches Tai Chi and QiGong in the Greenwich, Stamford and Darien areas.

He is certified in Tai Chi for Better Balance, and Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention. The forms Ken teaches are Hunyuan 24 and Sun Style Tai Chi.

He loves sharing the health and wellness benefits of Tai Chi and QiGong with all those who enter a class. He started his study of Tai Chi in 1996 and began teaching in 2002.

He currently teaches monthly programs for Greenwich Hospital Wellness and The Byram Shubert Library as well as weekly classes for Darien and Stamford Senior Centers and Greenwich YMCA Parkinson’s Wellness.

Hadas Kleshchelsk
Water Aerobics and Group Fitness Instructor

Hadas holds a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification (RYT) and is a member of the Yoga Alliance. Additionally, she is a certified Pilates instructor and a lifelong learner in the field of movement. Having spent her formative years abroad as a dancer, physical activity has always been a fundamental aspect of her existence.

She finds the Vinyasa Yoga practice to be both energizing and enlightening, much like dance itself. She firmly believes in building strength through the safe and stable approach of Pilates, which is free from excessive bouncing.

For several years, she has been teaching pilates, yoga and water aerobics classes at the IC, where it is rewarding to witness members experiencing the benefits of these physical practices while also fostering a sense of community.

In her personal time outside of teaching she enjoys reading, engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds, hiking, and she is aspiring to become a chef in the future.

Prerequisite 1

Jump in, submerge, resurface and swim 150 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes, and then swim 50 more yards. While swimming, you must keep your face in the water and demonstrate good breath control. You may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. When treading, you must use only your legs.

Prerequisite 2

Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive (head-first or feet-first) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping your face at or near the surface. Swimming the distance underwater is not permitted. Exit the water without using a ladder or the steps.

This course follows a blended learning model, which combines online coursework with in-person sessions. You will receive an email from the American Red Cross with instructions for accessing the online course content. To get started, log in to the Red Cross Learning Center and from your home page, click on the class. Please plan to complete all of the assigned online course modules at least 2 days prior to the corresponding in-person session. The online course content (16 modules) is designed to be completed in approximately 6 hours, with each module taking between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. You may require more or less time to complete each module. I recommend beginning the online coursework as soon as possible to ensure that you are able to complete all of the assigned online modules in advance of the corresponding in-person sessions.
