FAQ

Does the IC Have Summer Only Memberships?

The IC offers an introductory 6 month membership that begins May 1 and ends October 31 for first-time members.

Can you get a partial membership to just use the fitness center or the pools?

We offer a limited number of platform tennis memberships and introductory 6 month memberships.

Can I have one of my relatives other than a son or daughter join on the same family membership?

Only immediate family members, defined as unmarried children under age 25 who are living at home, would be included in your family membership. If you have legal custody and can provide the proper documentation then they would be allowed.

If we have a live-in nanny or au pair, can they be included in our membership?

We do offer nanny memberships, which would allow the nanny or au pair to enter the club while supervising your children. However, the nanny would not be allowed to use any of the facilities on her own without the children present.

Do you offer single memberships to children?

A person must be 18 years or older to join as an individual member. Children 17 years and younger may only join as part of a family plan.

Does the senior citizen membership include both spouses?

Yes, it does as long as either spouse is 65 years of age or older.

Is there a special membership rate for single parents with children?

A single parent with one child under the age of 25 and living at home qualifies for the Two Person Family Membership. A single parent with more than one child under the age of 25 falls into the Family Membership category.

Do you offer payment plans on your annual membership dues?

Payment plan options are available for annual family memberships upon the renewal year.

Are members allowed to bring an unlimited amount of guests to the center?

Each family membership is allowed 12 paid guests per year. Each individual membership is allowed only 4 paid guests per year. You are limited to 2 guests on any one day.

When I try to set up my member portal it tells me that my email is already in use.

Typically this happens because a main members email address was put into the email address field for other family members or a non-member portal was set up in error. Call the front office for an email profile check.

Prerequisite 1

Jump in, submerge, resurface and swim 150 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes, and then swim 50 more yards. While swimming, you must keep your face in the water and demonstrate good breath control. You may swim using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Swimming on the back or side is not permitted. Swim goggles are allowed. When treading, you must use only your legs.

Prerequisite 2

Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds. Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. Your face may be in or out of the water. Swim goggles are not allowed. Surface dive (head-first or feet-first) to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object. Return to the surface and swim 20 yards on your back to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands and keeping your face at or near the surface. Swimming the distance underwater is not permitted. Exit the water without using a ladder or the steps.

This course follows a blended learning model, which combines online coursework with in-person sessions. You will receive an email from the American Red Cross with instructions for accessing the online course content. To get started, log in to the Red Cross Learning Center and from your home page, click on the class. Please plan to complete all of the assigned online course modules at least 2 days prior to the corresponding in-person session. The online course content (16 modules) is designed to be completed in approximately 6 hours, with each module taking between 15 and 30 minutes to complete. You may require more or less time to complete each module. I recommend beginning the online coursework as soon as possible to ensure that you are able to complete all of the assigned online modules in advance of the corresponding in-person sessions.
