Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with the American Red Cross lifeguard training. Our courses are designed to arm you with the skills and knowledge to prepare you for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. With our lifeguard training, you will learn how quick response times and effective preparation are vital to being a lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries. The American Red Cross lifeguard training and certification are imperative to the process of getting hired on as an official Red Cross lifeguard. Our detailed training includes both testing of hands-on skills as well as comprehension on written tests.
The Lifeguard certification includes First Aid, Professional Rescuer CPR and AED training. It is valid for two years upon completion and is accepted nationwide.
Prerequisites for lifeguard training include:
- Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class
- Complete Blended E-Learnings prior to the first day of the class.
- Pass the pre-course swimming skills test (300 yard swim, tread water for two minutes using legs only, retrieve a 10 pound object 20 yards away from a depth of 7 to 10 feet within 1 minute 40 seconds)
- Pass a written exam with an 80% or higher.
After registering for the course, each student will receive an email with a link to the online portion of the class.
